Seismic collapse probability and life cycle cost assessment of isolated structures subjected to pounding with smart hybrid isolation system using a modified fuzzy based controller

The possibility of pounding on isolated structures with surrounding moat walls is one the concerns in design isolation systems, especially pulse-type near-field earthquakes. This paper puts forward seismic probability assessment equipped passive and smart hybrid systems by considering possibilities. investigation performed a high damping rubber bearing (HDRB) stiff around structure. In Hybrid system, magnetorheological dampers (MR) are considered an adaptive dissipation energy device along isolators using optimized novel interval Type-2 fuzzy logic controller red-zone function (IT2FS + RZF) to reduce fragility curves building for various cases determined incremental dynamic analysis (IDA), possible damage costs evaluated exceedance each level. study concludes that collapse restrains at code-based distance over acceptable limit ASCE 7–22. additional system proposed reduces cost about 64 % compared uncontrolled structure range.
